To Check Corruptions

ACC monitoring bodies formed

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday formed dedicated committees to closely monitor activities of the officials and staffs of 14 government organisations and departments, commonly perceived as prone to corruption.

These are: Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Bangladesh Railway, Civil Aviation, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Customs, Vat and Excise, Income Tax, Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Department of Narcotics Control, Department of Road and Highways, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Dhaka's Sub-Registrar Office, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Public Works Department and Auditor General Office.

Each of the 14 teams is comprised of one director, one deputy director and one assistant director, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, public relations officer of ACC.

“They will find out the cause and source of corruption of these organisations and thereby give recommendations for investigation and stopping corruption,” he said.

Director General of ACC Asaduzzaman will supervise the committees.
