The government yesterday formed a three-member panel to discharge the duties of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq in his absence.

Annisul, who has been suffering from cerebral vasculitis, is now under treatment at a hospital in London.

The mayoral panel was formed as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Act 2009.

The panel members include ward-21 councillor Osman Gani, ward-4 councillor Mohammad Amal Mostofa and councillor of reserved seat of ward-31, 32 and 34 Aleya Sarowar Daisy.

Osman would discharge the duty as a mayor in absence of Annisul while Mostafa would do that in absence of Osman and Aleya in absence of Mostofa, said DNCC Secretary Dulal Krishna Saha.

He said the DNCC received the relevant letter from the Local Government Division yesterday.
