Action against NGOs if found involved in anti-state activities
The government will monitor activities of non-government organsations and take “drastic actions” if any NGO is found involved in anti-government activities, State Minister for Social Welfare Nuruzzaman Ahmed told parliament yesterday.
Replying to lawmakers' queries, he said his ministry will scrap registration of NGOs if they carry out anti-state activities.
“I have taken the charge of the ministry one month ago. I am not fully aware of the entire activities of my ministry. I am telling you [MPs] that the ministry will carry out proper investigation and will cancel registration if any NGO is found involved in anti-state activities,” said the state minister.
Earlier during the question-answer session, Awami League MP Sagufta Yasmin Emily said some NGO's are involved in anti-state activities and wanted to know the government's actions in this regard.
