When the day of Victory approaches on December 16th, Bangladesh becomes a festival of red and green as people revel in the national holiday, coming out to celebrate this glorious moment in history when a nation was freed of oppression and bigotry. While the older generations remember the pain and joy of the Liberation War, this year there seems to be a resurgence of patriotism among the young especially, as they don attire commemorating the day and take part in the festive mood of victory that pervades the entire city.
