Lets
talk aboout life
Every
animal on earth deserves the right to know about his/her existence.
If he/she is not told about it, they must ask. Some children are so
keen to know about it that they somehow, manage to ask about it, to
their parents! It's a simple question, but not a question that can
be answered easily.
Different people
have different ways to counter this almost impossible question to
answer.
Below, is the
question, and the different types of answers they get.
-- How did I come
to this world Mom/Dad?
A1. You were a flower in heaven, and then you became our child on
earth.
A2. We went to the hospital and bought you, because we liked you!
A3. You are God's gift to us.
A4. You will find out yourself when you grow up.
After a while,
the parents feel guilty about lying, and decide their kid is old enough
for 'The Talk'. Little do they know what they're getting themselves
into! Most kids know enough (hopefully only in theory) on the subject
by that time, to be able to teach their folks a thing or two.
There was this
one guy, both of whose parents were doctors. They decided to deal
with this creepy conversation in a scientific way. So they pored over
manuals and brought down their heavy medical books, so that they could
make it an educational experience. Well, it turned out to be educational
anyway…only, after having their 'innocent' son finish all their sentences
for them, and then throw a few freaky facts into the bargain, who
was the teacher and who the student(s) was a matter to consider.
Then there was
this mother who decided one day, that her 14-year old daughter was
ready for womanhood, and decided to give her a 'prep' talk. The girl
pinned her mother with a clear gaze and said "Mom, you're two
years too late!" My, how the tables turn!
So, the next time
your toddler asks you whether it's true that the stork brought him/her,
think twice before answering, for who knows which end of the rope
you'll be holding in a few years?
I remember one
occasion when a friend of mine was arguing with me about how we came
to Earth. We had extremely varied opinions. He was asking me about
how I came here, and I told him, " Dost, I was in heaven. My
mom prayed days and nights, and then she got me." My friend tells
me "Oh! Damn, I thought heaven was the best place you could live
in. Your mom has made a mistake by bringing you here. Now you will
have to work a lot harder to go back to heaven." Then I ask him,
" So how did you come?" He answers, " My parents went
to this hospital, and bought me!"
“Oh really, what
price did they pay for you?"
He departed, probably to ask his mother about his price.
