Land of Glaciers
Every year cardiologist and hobbyist photographer DR MAHBOOB ALI tries to venture out to places ordinary tourists do not visit. This September he, along with his wife, flew to Alaska on a 15-day trip. He travelled from Alaska’s biggest city of Anchorage to Homer to Seward and captured the beauty of the region’s glacier laden and icy landscape.

2. A traditional house made in 1928 has been conserved as a heritage—specially because of the outhouse. Back then, outhouses designed with a sun meant it is for the men and moon for the women. A combination of both means this toilet is unisex. This one is unisex.
3. Sixty miles off Anchorage lie the Kenai Mountain Range that stretches across the two cities of Anchorage to Homer.
4. Moose, among other animals thrive at a conservation centre at Kenai Range
5. Bear watching at the Katmai National Park. The 19000 sqkm park is well known for salmon and brown bears. Tourists go there to fish and watch the oblivious bears catch fishes.
6. Columbia Glacier is the fastest moving glaciers in the world, and has been retreating since the early 1980s.
7. Take a helicopter drop at the Base Station for explorers on the Punch Bowl Glacier. From here, you can take a two-hour dog sledge ride in minus 30 degree Celsius weather.
