Interesting facts ahead of India’s encounter with South Africa

India will begin their World Cup campaign with the game against South Africa at The Rose Bowl in Southampton today. Ahead of the thrilling encounter, we look at some interesting facts about the two teams:

India skipper has been in terrific form against South Africa. The lethal right-hander has scored a total of 1269 runs -- most by any batsman among the current World Cup squads of the two sides -- in the26 matches he played against the Proteas. Kohli also has the highest average -- 66.78 -- against Faf du Plessis’ side.

 

Quinton de Kock has five centuries -- highest by any Proteas current World Cup squad batsmen -- in the 12 matches against India. India skipper Virat Kohli also has same number of hundreds but played more 14 games than de Kock.

 

India’s Jasprit Bumrah has an economy rate 3.90 -- best among the players of the current World Cup squads of the two sides -- in the seven games he played against South Africa.

 

Kagiso Rabada has scalped 15 wickets -- most by any players in the current South Africa squad -- in the 11 matches he featured for the Proteas against India.
