The
Devi Makes a Come Back
After
months of excruciating creative labour, the Devi Durga gets a
final shape. The eyes are the most essential elements that artisans
work on to animate the face, which epitomise the myth and the
cultural fervour centred on Durga Puja. Last year the Durga Puja
was marred by incidents that shook the country's image as an adobe
of religious tolerance. The government had to take strict measures
to avoid any kind of untoward incident. In Dhaka, the Puja mandaps
this year, were brimming with devotees in colourful attire in
keeping with the festival culture.
