Where have all the Cricket Pondits Gone?

(Inspired by the 1960s song 'Where have all the flowers gone?' and the performance of the Tigers)

Where have all the cricket pondits gone?
Long time have I seen!
Where have all the cricket pondits gone?

Gone to hiding everyone
When will they ever learn?

What be the reason for their hiding, son?
Vanished into air so thin!
What be the reason for their hiding, son?

Opened their big mouths everyone
When will they ever learn?

Why on earth did they use their brawn?
Brain was in the bin!
Why on earth did they use their brawn?

Rude remarks is their passion
When will they ever learn?

Which countries do the thoughtless belong?
Nitwits who can be mean!
Which countries do the thoughtless belong?

Bangladesh, Down Under, Pakistan
When will they ever learn?

What be their names them on the run?
Long were their spleen!
What be their names them on the run?

Aussie Hookes and some 'Khan'
When will they ever learn?

Why do they pack their tails one by one?
Long were they mean!
Why do they pack their tails one by one?

Young chaps taunt them everyone.
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young chaps gone?
Long time have I seen!
Where have all the young chaps gone?

Gone to be cricketers everyone
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the cricket players gone?
Long time have I seen.
Where have all the cricket players gone?

Became ex-cricketers once they're done
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the ex-cricketers gone?
Long time have I seen.
Where have all the ex-cricketers gone?

Gone to become pondits everyone
When will they ever learn?

Test status of Bangladesh (excerpts)
Shahjahan Ahmed, Dhaka

...The problem with our cricket is that we entered the test arena not on our ability but on the ability of our cricket administrators of the time. ...With such weak foundations it was not a wise decision to move for Bangladesh's test status. ...The argument has been made that all teams that were given test status did not fair well in the initial years. That argument is now not holding at all anymore as no country has ever been humiliated like this in the initial days of its test status as we are being humiliated now.
I suggest that an independent inquiry be undertaken to identify the people who were responsible for putting this noose round our necks and meanwhile keep our test playing status on hold till we are first able to lay the foundations of cricket in the country and become matured. We need at least a handful of cricketers of international cricket playing ability before we venture to play test cricket. ...

Sydney: Outspoken former Australian batsman David Hookes says Bangladesh don't deserve to play Test cricket and has called on Steve Waugh's world champions to humiliate them in their two Tests in Australia's... blah blah blah...

August 2003, Peshawar, Pakistan
Bangladesh 1st innings: 361, Javed Omer's maiden century
