Youth beaten dead over 'extramarital affair'

At least 17 people were sued on Sunday night in a case for killing a youth allegedly over an extramarital affair at Pashchim Bharanshahi village in Dhunat upazila early Sunday.

The deceased is Montu Mondal, 28, son of Abdus Samad of Charpara village of the upazila.

Police, however, arrested Lucky Akhtar, 25, and her mother-in-law Monowara Begum, 50, in this connection.

Sources said Lucky's husband Mintu and his family members found Montu and Lucky in a room of their house on Saturday night. They tied his hands and legs to a bamboo pole and beat him up mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

Abdus Samad, father of the victim, filed a murder case with Dhunat police station accusing 12 named, including Mintu, Lucky, Monowara and 5 unnamed people of the village on Sunday night.
