MP Shahid claims he's not guilty, Kuwait officials are

"I am clean…but officials are not clean!"

These are the words that Bangladeshi MP Mohammad Shahid Islam said during the public prosecution investigations in Kuwait after he was charged on allegations of human trafficking by selling visas, bribing officials and money laundering.

According to an Arab Times report, the MP said, "I have 9,000 workers in Kuwait, and 100% worthy tenders. No one has complained about my achievements, but some officials are stopping my tenders, only way of passing them by is by paying the money...So what do I do in such case?"

The newspaper quoted sources stating that the Bangladesh MP, in order to defend himself and deny charges against him, said in the investigation that his company owns equipment not available to anyone else. He said this as an evidence of the quality of services he provides to the government agencies that he has a contract with.

He also added the "whole problem lies with officials," according to the Arab Times report.
