India bans offshoots of al-Qaeda, IS
India has outlawed offshoots of the global terror outfit al-Qaeda and IS under the stringent anti-terror legislation Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Both al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham-Khorasan, an Afghanistan-based affiliate of the IS, have been declared unlawful by the home ministry as they were found to be radicalising youths for “global jihad”.
