Winners vow to make Bangladesh prosperous

Promise of making a prosperous and educated Bangladesh echoed in many voices of young children who were awarded yesterday for sharing their dreams of the future through stories and pictures.

Around 500 children from different schools gathered in the auditorium of CA Bhaban in the capital to receive awards after winning in "Horlicks –Kishore Alo Shopner Golpo Protijogita" that started in April this year.

The programme was organised jointly by Horlicks and KiA, the children's magazine of the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Mohsina Mejabeen, class-VIII student of AK High School, Dhaka, won the first prize in the drawing segment while Farha Binte Azhar, class-VI student of Cantonment Public School, Mymensingh, won the story writing contest. They won tickets to the Universal Studio in Singapore for themselves as well as for one of their guardians.

Ten more works selected in each category were published in the May issue of KiA.

Each of the 22 won 12 bottles of Horlicks, books and a certificate. Energy booster drink Horlicks and certificates would be mailed to another 1,200 who were chosen from among 3,000 participants, said Simu Naser, assistant editor of KiA.

A play based on "Shopner Bangladesh", a story depicting the future Bangladesh written by Tanima Islam Sneha, a class-VII student of Viquarunnisa Noon School and College, was performed by Theatre group Prachyanat.

Joloj Movies made an animation movie based on "Ekti Odbhuture Din", a story featuring environmental awareness, written by class-VI student Tasneem Hossain of Scholastica, which was screened yesterday.

Academician Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed and Editor of KiA Anisul Huq spoke among others.
