Voters' info update to get easier
The Election Commission (EC) has taken an initiative to ease the procedure of updating information of the voters who have migrated from one place to another within and outside their constituencies.
They will need to collect a single form and fill it out with the new addresses.
At present, voters need to fill out a form for changing the address within a constituency and another for the change of the address from one constituency to another.
Separately, the commission will also create a new form for the voters who want to correct different types of information given during registration like wrong spelling of names and addresses.
Now, voters have to write applications to the commission for the work.
The commission has proposed the changes in the Electoral Roll Policy 2012, and the draft proposal was sent to the law ministry yesterday for scrutiny.
