University students vow to fight corruption
Pledging to fight corruption at every level, a group of university students yesterday said they would launch a campaign to create general awareness about it.
Under the banner of Transparency International Bangladesh's youth engagement and support programme, the students formed a human chain at TSC on Dhaka University campus, marking International Youth Day, which is observed on August 12.
Prof Nasrin Ahmad, pro-vice chancellor of DU, who joined the programme, appreciating the youths, said they came forward with the commitment to fight corruption when question leaks in examinations, corruption in environment sector, and drug addiction were on the rise.
These youths also help the disaster affected people in the different areas of the country and raise awareness of child marriage, she said.
United efforts are needed to combat corruption as it is not possible for any individual alone, said TIB Deputy Executive Director Dr Sumaiya Khair.
