Under-19s confident ahead of WC
Bangladesh Under-19 captain Mehidy Hasan is banking on his side's positive team spirit to produce a good performance in the upcoming Under-19 World Cup, scheduled to begin in the UAE on February 14.
Bangladesh have been placed in group B alongside Australia, Afghanistan and Namibia.
Speaking to reporters at Mirpur yesterday, Mehidy said, “We want to win all the three matches in the group stages and progress to the next round. We beat Afghanistan in the Asia cup and Australia do not have enough experience of playing in Asian conditions.”
“Our team spirit will be our main weapon. We have been playing together for quite a few years, so the understanding between us is really good,” he added.
Khaled Mahmud, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB's) game development committee, had a similar view.
“We've tried to groom them as international standard. We are well prepared and confident. We've some bowlers in the squad who can stir up any team's batsmen,” he said.
