Two 'robbers' killed in mob beating

Two suspected robbers were killed in mob beating in Jessore and Tangail districts early yesterday and on Sunday.

An alleged robber who was killed by a mob at Nehalpur village in Monirampur upazila of Jessore was identified as Touhidul Islam, 32, son of late Nazrul Islam of Masna village, reports UNB.

Kabir Ahmed, OC of Monirampur PS, said a gang swooped on some workers while they were returning from a factory.

Hearing screams, people from nearby places rushed to the spot, chased the gang members and caught and beat dead Touhid, believed to be the ringleader of the gang.

Away in Tangail, an angry mob killed another suspected robber in Mirzapur upazila of the district on Sunday, reports our correspondent.

The victim is Julhas Mia alias Jewel, a resident of Kalkini upazila of Madaripur.

Witnesses said local people of Analiabari and Mondirapur villages chased a robbers' gang around 2:00am. They caught Julhas and beat him dead.
