Two robbers arrested with bomb, sharp weapons
Police arrested two robbers and seized four crude bombs and six machetes from their possession in Arabpur area of the district town early yesterday.
The arrestees are Arif Hossain, 30, son of late Mofayel Hossain of Shashtitala area, and Shakil Hossain, 30, son of Humayun Kabir of Daulatdihi village in Sadar upazila.
Enamul Haque, officer in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a police team stopped a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 4:00am, seized the bombs and the machetes hidden under the seats of the vehicle and arrested the duo.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, the OC added.
Away in Sylhet, armed robbers looted gold ornaments and other valuables from an expatriate's house at Rajabari village under Dakshin Surma upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Police quoting locals said a gang of 10/12 robbers stormed into the house of UK expatriate Kerol, by breaking open the door around 2:30am. They held the family members hostage at gun-point, robbed 12 tolas gold ornaments and Tk 30 thousand in cash.
