Two-day Gono Sangeet festival ends in Pabna
A two-day Gono-Sangeet (songs underling the nationalistic spirit), festival ended in Pabna on Saturday. Ganasangeet Udjapan Parishad (GSUP), Pabna organised the festival in Pabna Town Hall premises. Artistes from Pabna and Sirajganj district performed at the festival.
Vice president of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, central unit Md. Golam Kuddus inaugurated the festival on Friday as chief guest.
A discussion focusing on the spirit of Gono Sangeet was chaired by president of GSUP, Proloy Chaki. Cultural organiser Golam Kuddus delivered a speech at the event.
Secretary of the Udjapan Parishad Md. Abul Kashem presented the concept speech of the festival. Among others veteran journalist Anwarul Haque, educationalist Professor Md. Nurunnabi, cultural activist Jannat Ara Henry, artist Arif Rahman also the central member of GSUP spoke on the occasion.
The speakers stressed the need to promote Ganasangeet to combat social injustice. Gonoshangeet singers kept alive the spirit of the Liberation War, they said. Due to the preference for modern music, Gonosangeet was on the decline and there was an urgent need to promote the genre.
The artistes of Pabna Gonoshilpi, Awami Shilpi Goshthi, Pabna Edward College cultural unit, Sirajganj Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Sirajganj Rabindra Sangeet Sammilion Parishad Shahzadpur Sammilito Sangshkritik Jote performed at the festival.
