Two cattle traders hurt in BSF firing
Two Bangladeshi Cattle Traders sustained bullet injuries as Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on them at Putkhali frontier yesterday.
The victims are Alam Hossain, 24, son of Mizanur Rahman of Kagajpukur village, and Faruk Hossain, 32, son of Ali Ahmed of Putkhali village under Benapole police station.
Lt Col Abdur Rahim, commanding officer of BGB 23 Battalion, said the Indian border guards of Angrail camp opened fire while a group of cattle traders were returning home from India with cattle through Putkhali border at around 5:30am, leaving Faruk and Alam injured.
The other cattle traders brought them into Bangladesh territory and sent them to a local clinic.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reported that BSF returned the body of a Bangladeshi youth following a flag meeting held between the border guards of the two countries on Chanderhat border in Pirganj upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 30, of Ramnachanda village in the upazila. He was arrested while crossing the border on Monday night. He died at Raiganj district Hospital under Pashchimbanga on Tuesday.
Pirganj UNO said several scratch marks were found on the body.
