Trader dies after being 'doped'

A cotton trader died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday a day after he had allegedly been doped by a gang in Tongi of Gazipur.

Arabindra Roy, 40, was also a textile engineer.

His widow Shawpna Roy told The Daily Star that her husband left their Tongi residence for Motijheel for business purpose on Thursday morning.

He might have been doped in Tongi College Gate area while returning home by a bus, he quoted the people, who took him to DMCH, as saying.

In an unconscious state, he was brought from Tongi and admitted to the hospital around 9:00pm on Thursday.

He was declared dead around 2:30pm yesterday, said Haider Ali, assistant sub-inspector of DMCH Police Outpost. The body was sent to the DMC morgue for autopsy.
