8 Bangladeshis jailed in Pakistan to be repatriated once flights resume: minister
The eight Bangladeshis, who faced jail terms in Pakistan for illegally entering into the country's territory, would be repatriated once flights resume operation, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said today.
The Bangladeshi citizens, who were fishing in the sea between Oman and Pakistan, floated towards Pakistan's waters during high tide after their boat engine became dysfunctional in October last year.
Eventually, Pakistan Navy arrested and jailed them.
"Their jail term is over. They will be repatriated once flights start operation," Momen told reporters at his ministry office.
Through the home ministry, their identities were confirmed. They hail from Noakhali, he said.
Bangladesh mission in Pakistan has been informed of the matter and asked for taking measures to repatriate them, the foreign minister added.
