Three youths jailed for stalking schoolgirls
Three youths were sent to jail on charge of stalking two schoolgirls in Moulvibazar and Jamalpur districts yesterday morning.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reported that police arrested two youths for teasing a schoolgirl at Pashchim Madhabpur village in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
The arrestees are Md Kamruzzaman, 22, son of Ali Mia of the village and Emon Mia, 19, son of Jaru Mia of Purbo Madhabpur village.
Police quoted witnesses as saying that the youths were teasing a Class X student of Premodamoyee Girls High School in front of the school around 10:00am. As she cried out for help, locals caught the duo and informed the police who went to the spot and arrested the youths.
Contacted, Abdul Based, officer in-charge of Madhabpur Police Station, said they produced the arrestees in a court that sent them to jail in the afternoon.
In Jamalpur, a mobile court sentenced a youth to one year imprisonment for stalking a schoolgirl in Sharishabari upazila of the district yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The convict is Sumon, 24, son of Joynal Abedin of Shatpoa Modhyapara village in the upazila.
Police said Sumon had been stalking the girl, a Class X student at Salma Khatun Girls High School at Ramnagar Bazar, on way to and from school for the last couple of days.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim's father on Sunday, police arrested him yesterday.
Police produced the arrestee in a mobile court led by Sharishabari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Flora Bilkis Jahan.
After hearing, the court delivered the verdict at around 11:00am.
