Threat to blow off Narayanganj court

Two lawyers today received short message service (SMS) on their mobile phones threatening to blow off Narayanganj court.
Following the incident, security has been beefed up on the court premises and surrounding areas.
Narayanganj District Lawyers Association President Advocate Shakhawat Hossain said two junior lawyers received the threat, spreading a panic among the lawyers.
Later, District and Sessions Judge and police were informed of the threat.
Court Police Inspector Md Habibur Rahman said additional forces were deployed at the court premises.
They were taking the incident seriously, he added.
Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mahid Uddin said they were yet to find any clue about the identity of the perpetrators.
He, however, said they were investigating the incident.
Additional Public Prosecutor KM Fazlur Rahman said two Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) members appeared before the Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court today in connection with bomb blasts at Araihazar upazila in the district in 2004.
