Theatre’s ‘Mukti’ touches the hearts of London audience
The full house audience at the Studio Theatre of Brady Arts Centre, London accorded a resounding ovation to the artistes at the end of the performance of Theatre’s “Mukti” on November 9. The play was staged as a part of the festival “A Season of Bangla Drama” organised by Tower Hamlets Council from Nov 2 to Nov 24, says a press release.
This was the 11th Season of the Festival. Theatre staged “Mukti” at the festival with the support of the Bangladesh High Commission, London. Seven Bangla and six English plays are being staged, alongside seminars and an exhibition.
High Commissioner to Bangladesh in London, Mijarul Quayes has adapted “Mukti” from Lee Blessing’s original English play. Directed by Tropa Majumdar, the cast included noted actress Ferdausi Majumdar along with Tamanna Islam, Tanjum Ara Polly and Tanveen Sweety.
Before the play, chief of Theatre, Ramendu Majumdar and festival curator Kazi Ruksana Begum welcomed the audience. Mijarul Quayes addressed the audience and presented a bouquet of flowers to the director and the artistes on behalf of the High Commission.
