The best of urban photography
The results of this year's CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year competition had the theme “Cities at Work”, and photographers around the world were asked to record the essence and reality of the working life of a city. The winning image was taken by Marius Vieth and given the title “Mask of Society”. It was selected from among 11,500 entries from 79 countries around the world. The Asia Pacific award went to Ly Hoang Long for his picture of workers mending nets in a factory in Bac Lieu in Vietnam. Carlos da Costa Branco's picture of a traffic warden dancing in the street in Lisbon won the Europe, Middle East and Africa prize. The 13-15 age category was won by Sarah Scarborough with a picture taken in Venice, called “A Distant Silhouette”. A Christmas tram on the side of the River Danube in Budapest won Szabolcs Simo the first prize in the age 16-25 category. The picture of a sewerage worker in India by Sujan Sarkar was also well received.
