WhatsApp launches passkey feature
WhatsApp has introduced a passkey feature to safeguard users' information. The new system mandates using a face, fingerprint, or PIN number to access designated accounts. Consequently, only the intended individual will access the information stored within the WhatsApp account. This feature aims to give users security in safeguarding data, adding an extra layer of strong security to their WhatsApp accounts.
Once the feature is rolled out, users can find the 'Passkey' option in their WhatsApp settings. The passkey system will become active by following the provided instructions and completing the fingerprint or other identification process.
WhatsApp has been rigorously testing the passkey system with its Android beta users for several months. Initially, it was introduced to a select group of users, but in the coming weeks, all Android device users will have the chance to utilise this added security measure. Notably, there's no official word yet on when iOS users can expect to access this feature.
