Do not defame "nationally important persons": Directorate of Primary Education to teachers
The Directorate of Primary Education has issued an eight-point guideline on 'social media etiquettes' for all primary or elementary school level officials and teachers. All Directors of the Directorate of Primary Education, all District Education Officers, Upazila or Thana Education Officers have been asked to take necessary measures in this regard.
According to the guidelines, primary school level officials and teachers cannot upload, comment, like and share any post, image, audio or video that undermines the image of the Government or the state on social media. The guidelines also ask them to "refrain from publishing any information that goes against national unity and spirit."
Apart from this, no information which may hurt the "religious sentiments of any community" or any post or information that goes against the "principle of secularism" shall be published. Any post, image, audio or video uploading, commenting, liking, or sharing that may destroy "communal harmony or deteriorate law and order" or "spread misinformation" should also be avoided, the guidelines mention. The guidelines also ask officials and teachers to refrain from sharing or interacting with any post that defames "nationally important persons, organisations or any other such services".
Sharing sexist or 'controversial information" are also prohibited.
