Tarique’s wife dismissed
BNP Senior Vice-chairman Tarique Rahman's wife Dr Zubaida Khan Rahman has been sacked for remaining absent from work for six years.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said this while replying to queries in parliament this evening.
He said, “Everybody is equal before law. We have already taken measures. She has been dismissed.”
Many lawmakers from both the treasury and opposition benches were seen thumping desks while the minister gave the reply.
Zubaida has been living in London with her husband and daughter since the family left Bangladesh in 2008 for treatment of Tarique.
Sources close to Zubaida told The Daily Star that before her leaving Dhaka in 2008, she applied to Directorate General of Health Services seeking leave. And in the last six years, she had also sent several applications to the health ministry and the health directorate seeking leave.
“But neither the ministry nor the health directorate gave any reply to her applications,” said the sources.
