Another SP-ranked officer sent into retirement
The government has sent another police official to the rank of superintendent of police, Barrister Zillur Rahman, into forced retirement, citing public interest.
Zillur Rahman was an additional commandant at the Traffic and Driving School, a specialised training institute of police.
The Public Security Division of home ministry issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday (November 16). However, the circular was published on the ministry's website yesterday.
With Zillur, seven police officials have so far been sent into forced retirement in the last one month.
Besides, Ali Hossain Fakir, a superintendent of police and former commanding officer of the Armed Police Battalion, was sent into retirement, on the same grounds on November 16.
Earlier, the ministry sent two additional deputy inspector generals and three SPs into retirement on October 18 and October 31.
On October 16, the government also showed Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mokbul Hossain the door on the same ground.
Like the previous orders, the latest circular too invoked section 45 of Bangladesh Service Rules, 2018.
According to the section, upon the president's approval, the government can send an employee, who has completed 25 years of service, into retirement in public interest, without showing any specific reason.
