Sublime, Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel the isolated el egance
ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that restaurants and lounges have spread all around Dhaka city like mushrooms in the unattended wild, one has got to have real good reasons to be persuaded to travel far through the maddening traffic in the city to dine elsewhere. It’s almost always the place closer from office, or the one that’s on the way back home. However, when it all gets too regular and boring, we opt for the unexplored, the untasted.
Even with so many restaurants opening up at every corner on every street, there are very few places that offer authentic cuisine, one of which is undeniably Sublime Restaurant at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka.
Located on the eighth floor of the hotel, Sublime has a “feel” of its own. Walking through the beautifully lit walkway from the elevator, comes to sight a maroon cavern, which when you step in, feels like a secluded and peaceful refuge — perfect for a dinner date for two. If one can settle at a table at sunset they can witness the beautiful skyline of the city transforming into the darkness of the night.
signature dishes by the chef himself.
The three course meal comprises of cold/hot appetisers with soups, mains and desserts. One can indulge themselves in an exotic platter of beef, chicken or a range of sea food including shrimps, mussels and scallops and try out each of the cuisines in separate meal courses.
Embark upon the food journey at Sublime by tasting the Beef Carpaccio – an Italian dish including raw beef with Italian dressing, Parmesan cheese powder, parsley, olive oil and lettuce. The over powering aroma of the herbs and the dressing are a burst of flavour in the mouth and a must try.
Among other appetisers offered by the restaurant are marinated crab meat with and green shell mussel with chilli sauce, grilled tiger prawn skewer, and Penne Ragate cooked in “Villa Franca”all one a of kind signature dishes by the chef. An urbane selection of green salads and hot soups are also offered by the restaurant.
Sublime is one of the very few restaurants in the city (or perhaps the only one) which prepares its pasta in-house. The restaurant offers the main course in three categories– fish, meat and vegetarian. Enjoy rich Mediterranean assorted seafood dish called the seafood Paella, which comprises shrimps, squid, mussels, and the red snapper — all put together to produce the perfect sea food dish, accompanied by Arborio rice and presented delightfully garnished. For the calorie counters and the vegetarians, Sublime presents vegetable filo with chives sauce and potato, and a ravioli of sautéed mixed vegetables and Philadelphia cheese.
The last course of the meal is the dessert, which, arguably, is the best part.
Sublime has the best Tiramisu in town in terms of both taste and presentation. It is a real treat for the taste buds and the eyes with its beautiful hard caramel garnish and its soft and melting sensations in the mouth.
Enjoy the black and white chocolate mousse, raspberry meringue tart or the home-made calvados parfait, each equally amazing experience and a joy ride for the taste buds. A hearty meal at Sublime is not out of reach with appetisers and soups priced between Tk.850-1200, main dishes at Tk.1400-3100 and desserts at around Tk.800 or so.
Putting it all together, if you’re looking for to have an intimate dinner with your loved one and willing to try out something different, Sublime is the way to go. The restaurant is open daily from 6.30pm till 11pm and we suggest an advance reservation for the table with the great view of the city outside.
