Sub-committee in place for drafting
A seven-member sub-committee headed by Barrister Tanjibul Alam was formed yesterday for drafting the National Broadcast Commission Act, paving the way to form the National Broadcast Commission.
The 38-member committee led by Dr Golam Rahman, a professor of Dhaka University's mass communication and journalism department, formed the sub-committee at its first meeting at the information ministry.
“The sub-committee will prepare the draft law soon and submit it to us,” Prof Rahman told The Daily Star after the meeting, adding that the draft will shape the structure of the commission.
Committee member Prof AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, chairperson of Dhaka University's television and film studies department, said the draft will be finalised in two months to send it to the information ministry for placing it to the cabinet. Prof Alam was also included in the sub-committee.
