Sir John Wilson School hosts business convention
Sir John Wilson School (SJWS) organised its first ever business convention recently. A business idea pitching competition aimed at inspiring the talented entrepreneurial minds of Dhaka, Sir John Wilson School Business Convention gave students a platform to present their unique business skills. Students of Grade 12 – Ishra Haq (President), Afrid Anam Noor (Vice-President) & Nazran Farook (Conference Advisor) meticulously organized the competition.
Sponsored by Bengal Group, Singer, Rancon Hospitality and Rahimafrooz, the event was inaugurated with a welcome speech by the Vice Principal of SJWS Senior Section, Dr Farhana Zaman followed by an inspiring speech by the Principal of the school, Ms Sabriha Shaheed. The participating schools included Sunbeams, Scholastica, Summerfield International School and the host, SJWS. The students came up with business prospects on this two-day long event with their eyes on the prize. The idea pitching session was followed by a prize giving ceremony and a gala dinner.
The splendor of the event was further heightened with the presence of the honourable judges, namely, Mr Arif Jebrik, Director of Update Group, Ms Syeda Wedad Quader, Consultant to Southtech Group, Ms Anika Tashfia, Business Analyst at ACI Logistics Ltd., and Ms Namirah Ahmed, Assistant Manager of People Development in BYLC. The chief guest for the prize giving ceremony was Mr Nazim Farhan Choudhury, CEO of radio station, Colours FM 101.6 and Managing Director of Bangladesh's leading advertising agency, Adcomm. Mr. Choudhury complimented the students on their hardwork and said, "I am extremely impressed to see the young minds participating in such an event with this level of enthusiasm and spirit."
The winner and runners up awards for startup ideas for a small enterprise went to Sunbeams School and the winner and runners up awards for startup ideas for a large enterprise went to Sir John Wilson School. The gala dinner was accompanied with musical performances by the bands Galactic Jukebox, Hades, Fort Knight, Indecision and Unicorns & Amp.
