DRMC hosts National Language Festival 2019
The 6th DRMC-Apex National Language Festival began February 7, 2019, welcoming an impressively large crowd. With an aim to connect millennials with language and culture while also giving them an unforgettable experience, Remians Language Club organised the festival at Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC). Sponsored by Apex Footwear Ltd and Singer Bangladesh Ltd there were 23 partner companies of the event.
The competitions were organised under four groups: Junior (class 6-8), Secondary (class 9-10), Senior (class 11-12) and University.
Brigadier General Ashfaque Iqbal, Principal, DRMC, inaugurated the ceremony in the college auditorium as the chief guest along with the convenor Rashed Al Mahmud and the moderator Mashiur Rahman. Such festivals are crucial to build the character of the young generation. I hope the event inspires young people to be more aware of their language and culture," said the chief guest.
The first event of the festival was Bangla Olympiad which received an incredible response. 34 other exciting events, including Spelling Bee, Crosswords, Anagram, Mega Quiz and Extempore were also held. Activities such as Innovative Journalism, Gistbase and Brain Game were debuted at the festival. The Pop Culture Quiz, Anime Quiz and Comic Quiz were the most popular competitions.
Furthermore, a photography exhibition, wall magazine display and a display of innovative journalism attracted about 4000 young visitors from various educational institutions of Dhaka and beyond. The closing ceremony, chaired by the Principal of DRMC, was held on February 9. A total of 289 prizes were given to the winners of the competitions. Ahmed Yesvi Rafa, General Secretary of Remians Language Club was proud to have successfully organised the festival. "For the first time in Bangladesh, eight writing based events were included in a language festival, making it to be one of the best language events in the country," he said.
