Robot Olympiad: A glorious journey for Bangladesh
Mir Umaima Hoque, a seventh grader of Nalanda High School and Abrar Shahid, a sixth grader of Chattogram Cantonment Public College won gold medal at this year’s International Robot Olympiad in Thailand.
They have participated in this event for the first time and achieved tremendous success for the country. Along with Umaima and Abrar, other Bangladeshi teenagers also won 10 medals in the event. They secured fourth position with two silvers, six bronzes and one technical award.
Lafifa Jamal, president of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad and also a professor at the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering in the University of Dhaka led the 15-member Bangladesh squad.
Latifa, Umaima and Abrar sat with TechTalk of STAR LIVE and shared their experiences of the event and discussed robotic culture of the country.
