India: Smart Scrap
India generates about 2 million tonnes of electronic waste every year and ranks fifth among e-waste producing countries, after the US, China, Japan and Germany.
Only 20 percent of global e-waste is recycled, while 95 percent of India's e-waste is recycled in the informal sector and in a crude manner.
Though it helps many make a living, those that are disposing of e-waste are usually not aware of the risks and health hazards that result from certain disposal techniques.
Companies like Namo e-Waste are rising, providing people with employment and safe recycling measures without harming people or the environment.
