Hidden Heroes | Ep 01 | Akhi Sets an Example of Loving Their Neighbors
World Vision Bangladesh and The Daily Star jointly present to you "Hidden Heroes" - a video series where we portray real stories of ordinary people with extraordinary impact during this global pandemic.
In the First Episode, we look into the life of Akhi, who at the very beginning of the pandemic, realized the dire need for affordable masks in her community. She quickly used her Vocational Education and Life Skills Training that was taught to her at World Vision Center, and started to support her community by sewing face masks and even distributing some for free. Upon getting a timely orientation from World Vision, Akhi and her family raised awareness regarding Coronavirus in their community - teaching their neighbors to wash hands with soap and running water, wear masks while they go out, and maintain social distancing.
Akhi sets a great example of loving their neighbors and helping them in need. On International Humanitarian Day, Akhi became the center of attraction in Asia once UN OCHA recognized her as a real-life hero. To us, she is indeed what we call a Hidden Hero - an ordinary person who has risen to make an extraordinary impact, empowered by the proven experience of World Vision.
