SSC exams in due time: Nahid
In view of the recent violence centering BNP-led 20-party alliance’s blockade, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said that the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) would be held throughout the country in due time.
“No conspiracy can stop the SSC and equivalent exams,” the minister said while talking to reporters at his office in the Secretariat this morning, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
“All preparations to hold the examinations in a peaceful manner have been finalised,” he said, urging the BNP-led 20-party to withdraw their agitation programme for the sake of the future of the children.
“We can expect that the BNP-led 20-party alliance leaders have minimum norms and values which they will put to use ahead of the examination,” Nahid said.
The guardians of the examinees are passing through panic due to the ongoing agitation, he added.
Such types of programmes will have to be withdrawn to ensure peaceful atmosphere during the examination, he added.
Around 14 lakh candidates are expected to sit for the SSC and equivalent level public exam that is expected to begin on February 2.
However, there is still no indication that the blockade of the BNP-led 20-party combine, that entered 23rd day today, will be relaxed or lifted.
The agitation, that began centering the first anniversary of January 5 elections this month, claimed at least 33 lives so far including more than half who are not affiliated to politics.
