SQ Chy seeks parole
Death row convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury today applied to the home ministry for parole to attend namaz-e-janaza of one of his relatives tomorrow.
The war criminal in his prayer stated that the janaza of his paternal aunt Rasheda Hossain Chowdhury, also mother of Awami League leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury, will be held Tuesday, said a source in the home ministry.
Rasheda died on Saturday at a hospital in Singapore.
Additional Home Secretary Shawkat Mostafa said, "I received the letter in the evening. No decision has been taken today. The decision on it will be taken tomorrow."
International Crimes Tribunal-1 awarded him death sentence on October 1, 2013 for his involvement in crimes against humanity including murder and torture during the country's Liberation War against Pakistan in 1971.
