Shakib now the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cups
Shakib Al Hasan reached a new milestone today in Bangladesh's first Super 12 stage game against Sri Lanka as the premier all-rounder now leads the wicket takers' list in T20 World Cups. Shakib now has scalped 41 wickets in 29 T20 World Cup matches, most by any player ever in the marquee event.
The premier all-rounder surpassed former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, who has 39 scalps in 34 T20 World Cup matches.
Shakib achieved the feat when he castled the stumps of Pathum Nissanka in the first ball of the ninth over. He also shattered the stumps of Avishka Fernando in the same over.
Shakib is also joint-top with Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal in terms of players with most four wickets or more in an innings in T20 World Cups. Both Shakib and Ajmal have three four-wicket hauls in T20 World Cups.
Shakib is also the one who scored the most runs (685), took the most number of wickets (41) and struck most sixes (23) for Bangladesh in T20 World Cups.
