Liton fined for altercation with Kumara

Bangladesh opener Liton Das was fined fifteen percent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for his role in breaching ICC code of conduct during a confrontation with Sri Lanka pacer Lahiru Kumara, ICC said in a media release.
Lahiru Kumara went straight to Liton Das for an ugly face-off after dismissing the opener in the sixth over.
The tension in the Sharjah stadium had escalated to new heights yesterday as both Liton and Kumara were inches away from a physical contact, where even the non-striking batsman Naim Sheikh ended up pushing the pacer away, before the on-field umpires intervened to restore order.
"After he dismissed the batter Das, Lahiru Kumara walked towards him using actions and words which provoked an aggressive reaction from the batter.
Having been provoked by the bowler Kumara, Das reacted aggressively and in a manner which was contrary to the spirit of cricket.
Kumara was fined 25% of his match fee and received 1 demerit point.
Das was fined 15% of his match fee and received 1 demerit point," the ICC said in a media release.
