PDB, Ansar take titles
Power Development Board (PDB) and Bangladesh Ansar were respectively crowned champions in the men's and women's sections of the Shahjalal Islami Bank National Volleyball Championships, which concluded at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
PDB retained the men's title with a 3-1 sets win over Bangladesh Army. Despite losing the first set by 12-25 points, PDB came back strong and won the next three sets -- 25-20, 25-21, and 25-23 -- to ensure their second national title.
In the women's final, Bangladesh Ansar dethroned Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) to regain the title after posting a 25-16, 25-20, 25-22 win over eight-time champions BJMC. It was the seventh national tile for Bangladesh Ansar.
In the place-deciding matches, Bangladesh Navy beat Titas Gas in 3-1 sets to finish third in the men's section while Rajshahi finished third in the women's section with a 3-1 sets win over Chittagong district.
