Yasir, Tanvir corner Wolves
Following a brilliant batting display from Yasir Ali, it was once again the spin web of left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam that helped Bangladesh Emerging team stay on top at the end of the second day of their lone four-dayer against the visiting Ireland Wolves at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram yesterday.
After starting the day on 81 for one, the home side piled up 313 in the first innings – getting a lead of 162 runs -- before cornering the visitors at 35 for four before stumps.
Yasir, who has been called up for the national squad a number of times but is yet to make his international debut, made a statement with his 115-ball 92 but the young right-hander would have been gutted to miss out on a ninth first-class ton.
In an aggressive batting display, the 24-year-old smashed eight fours and five maximums before being trapped in front by Jonathan Garth in the 75th over.
Skipper Saif Hassan and Mahmudul Hasan also contributed with 49 and 42 respectively.
Following a strong batting display, left-arm spinner Tanvir, who had scalped his maiden first-class fifer to help bundle out Ireland for 151 on the opening day, took three for nine in seven overs.
