Women shooters frustrate
Bangladesh's Ummey Zakia Sultana finished 85th and Syeda Atkiya Hassan finished 99th among 101 competitors in the qualification round of the women's 10m air rifle event of the New Delhi World Cup yesterday.
Zakia scored a total of 615.3 points while Atkiya scored 609.7 points in the event, where India's Apurva Chandela eventually grabbed the gold medal, beating three Chinese competitors.
The New Delhi World Cup is the first shooting World Cup [Rifle and Pistol] of the calendar year, and it is also the first event to earn quota place for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
11 shooters from Bangladesh -- six men and five women -- are participating in the meet, which will end on February 28.
