Two hockey players test positive for Covid-19
After footballers, two hockey players of national U-21 team tested positive of Covid-19 after 16 players underwent the coronavirus test on Saturday prior to start the physical fitness training tomorrow under the supervision of Bangladesh Air Forces.
The players are Rakibul Hasan and Obaidur Rahman Joy, confirmed Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf after BHF president and Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat inaugurated month-long fitness training programme at BAF Falcon Hall in Tejgaon today.
The rest of 14 players are scheduled to start the training under the supervision of Air Forces trainers at Bangabandhu Base in Cantonment while the two positive players will remain at the isolation center of Air Force.
Of 36-member preliminary squad, 18 players, who have been out of action for nearly six months since February amidst coronavirus outbreak, are given opportunity to regain the fitness by holding the month-long fitness training but two players did not report till today. The rest of 18 other players have been associated with different services teams and are in touch with training through their respective services teams like Bangladesh Army, Bangladeah Air Force and Bangladesh Navy.
