Two arrested over attack on Sabina’s family
Two persons were arrested on Sunday night over an attack on national women's football team captain Sabina Khatun and her family members in Sabujbagh of Satkhira sadar upazila earlier in the evening.
The arrested are Sabina's neighbour Imran Gazi and his mother Lata Begum.
The arrests were made late in the night after Sabina's elder sister, Shirin Khatun, filed a case at the Satkhira sadar police station against four alleged attackers – Zafar Gazi, his wife Lata and their two sons, confirmed Mohammad Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of the station.
The complainant stated that the four alleged attackers, who had a long-standing feud with Sabina's family, came to their house and started arguing and scolding their father Syed Ali. When faced with protest, the attackers launched an assault on Sabina's father and the rest of their family members, leaving them injured.
Sabina, her father and her eldest sister Salma Khatun were sent to the Satkhira sadar hospital for treatment after the attack. While Sabina and her father were later released following primary treatment, Salma was still undergoing treatment for serious injuries on her body and head.
