Six Bangladeshis among 258 foreigners to register for IPL
Six cricketers from Bangladesh were among 258 foreigners who registered for the forthcoming auction for the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The IPL organisers said in a statement on Monday that 73 spots were up for grabs and the franchises would have until December 9 to submit their shortlist of players that will make the final auction list.
The IPL players' registration closed on November 30 with 971 players signing up for the players’ auction, which is scheduled to be held in Kolkata on December 19.
The statement did not name players who are available for auction but revealed that there are 196 capped international players and 19 capped Indian players in the fray.
Among foreigners, the most have come from Australia (55), with South Africa (54) a close second.
There are 39 Sri Lankan players, 34 West Indies players, 24 players from New Zealand, 22 England players and 19 players from Afghanistan.
Glenn Maxwell and Chris Lynn, however, will be available for auction and have set their base price at the maximum of Rs 2 crore. The others to list their base price at Rs 2 crore are Australia fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, South Africa quick Dale Steyn, and Sri Lanka batsman Angelo Mathews.
