Sekander receives Sports Journalist of the Year award
Mohammad Sekander Ali, senior sports reporter of Daily Samakal, has been named the Towfiq Aziz Khan Sports Journalist of the Year 2019 in Max-BSPA Journalists Award ceremony today.
The five-member jury board gave Ali the highest number among all participants.
ESPN-Cricinfo's Bangladesh correspondent Mohammad Isam and Prothom Alo's special correspondent Masud Alam were named the first and second runner-up respectively in the award ceremony 2020, held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium and organsied by the Bangladesh Sports Press Association.
In the sports photography category 2019, Kaler Kantha special photojournalist Mir Farid won the Badrul Huda trophy. The Daily Star photojournalist Firoz Ahmed was announced the first runner-up in the same category while Prothom Alo photojournalist Samshul Haque was named second runner-up.
BSPA also awarded sports journalists in three more categories. It also accorded reception of two senior journalists -- Mohammad Yousuf Ali and Mahmudul Hasan Shamim -- for their contribution to sports.
BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza was present as the chief guest while BSPA president Sanat Babla and general secretary Sudipta Ahmed Ananda were among others present on the occasion.
