SA Games in December
The 13th edition of the South Asian (SA) Games has been deferred to December, confirmed a Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) official yesterday.
The South Asian multi-sports extravaganza was initially supposed to take place in September at Kathmandu and Pokhra, but hosts Nepal sought more time to prepare the venues during an official discussion of the South Asian Olympic Council members at the sideline of Olympic Council of Asia meeting in Thailand on Friday.
“We told the meeting that Bangladesh won't participate in the Games if the hosts can't hold it in December because we are planning to hold Bangladesh Games in the latter part of this year. Later, the meeting decided to hold the Games in December 1-10 in Nepal,” said BOA secretary general Shahed Reza over phone from Thailand yesterday.
The SA Games, which was originally scheduled for March, will stage 27 disciplines.
Reza also informed that the discipline of cricket is all set to return to the competition in the 2022 Asian Games to be held in China.
