Monjurul tests positive for Covid-19
Bangladesh national football team member SM Monjurul Rahman tested positive for coronavirus yesterday and will not fly to Qatar with the rest of the contingent today, the BFF said through a press release.
Players and officials of the national team were tested on Tuesday night after the second friendly against Nepal.
The BFF said it would arrange a second test for Monjurul after three days. If he returns another positive test, head coach Jamie Day will make a decision about his replacement.
Day himself tested positive for a second time on Monday and will have to stay in isolation in Dhaka for the time being. He can only join the team in Qatar if he returns a negative test.
Bangladesh are travelling to play a joint World Cup and Asian Cup qualifier against Qatar. The reverse fixture in Dhaka ended in a 2-0 win for the visitors.
Bangladesh will quarantine for three days with access to gym and swimming facilities. They are scheduled to play warm-up matches against local sides on November 25 and 28.
Bangladesh will get two more warm-up matches before taking on Qatar on December 4. Although the opponent is not final, the two matches are scheduled for November 25 and 26.
